Ease of Processing



Kanecaron/Protex can be processed in common textile systems such as spinning, dyeing and molding.

1.Spinning

Essentially, the same process that is used for other fibers can be applied to Kanecaron/Protex; however the following conditions are suggested to assure a better yarn quality.

Temperature and humidity

Room temperature=20-25 deg C / Humidity=50-60% RH
(2)

Opening and Carding

The same condition of cotton, polyester, acrylic can be applied but a more gentle condition is preferred because Kanecaron/Protex fiber is easy to open.
(3)

Drawing, spinning and rewinding

Low tension will be required to have a better yarn quality. Regarding the ring type, a backed ring is the best to use in order to avoid the excessive friction caused by the traveler and tension control.

2.Dyeing

Beautiful and long lasting colors can be obtained with cationic dyes as with regular acrylic fibers. The following is a recommended condition for stock dye.

The step-wise and low rise control in the temperature is required around 85 deg C due to the start of migration and quick absorption rate.
(2)

Dyeing temperature should be kept below 98 deg C, as the fabric will start to shrink at 100 deg C or higher and the fiber will become stiff. Protex allows for up to 103 deg C as a maximum dyeing temperature.
(3)

The amount of retarder should be reduced to avoid the delay of the absorption of dyes.
Carriers can be used for the deep shades, but a deoxidization process will be required after dyeing.

3.Molding

Kanecaron/Protex is a suitable fiber for molding. Within the temperature range of 120-130 deg C the elongation shows the maximum performance and can be molded with a deep draw over 100% depth on the fabric.

Kanecaron/Protex keeps a molded shape without stress against other common fabrics, such as knits or the usage of the elastomeric yarn that will revert to the original shape after tension is removed.

Handling suggestions:

Keep the shape of the molded fabric by the use of clips
(2)

Employ the shortest press time to avoid a cooling down of the mold.
(3)

Press at room temperature or below after heat using an auxiliary heater.
(4)

Oven or slide type can be used as a heat method.
